TROUBLESHOOTING

Having trouble connecting? The following articles explain how to make sure that QuickTime is configured at the correct connection speed for your Internet Service Provider (ISP):

It's also possible to find out at what speed your computer is really connected to the Interent by visiting a speed-testing web site like Broadband Reports.com. Depending upon traffic on the Internet, your connection speed may vary (i.e., your DSL provider may tell you that you can connect at speeds as fast as 1.5 Mbps, but your actual connection speed at any given time may be much lower). Broadband Reports.com will give you a report on your current download and upload speeds. If your download speed is better than 122kbps, the rate at which the Commencement webcast will be streamed, you should be able to view the video.

Having trouble installing QuickTime? Macs come with QuickTime installed (though you may want to run Software Update to make sure that you have the latest version), but Windows systems don't. If you encounter any difficulties installing QuickTime on a Windows machine, the following article may help:

All of the preceding articles and more can be found through Apple's QuickTime Support page.

Watching from your work computer? Windows users in particular should keep in mind that, in order to install software on a Windows XP, 2000, or NT Pro system, you need to have administrator privileges on the computer. If you're planning on viewing the webcast from your work computer, you notice that it does not have QuickTime 6 or later installed, and you have trouble trying to install QuickTime yourself, you may need to talk to your office tech support person. He or she is likely to have a login with the necessary administrative privileges.
